Alright everyone, I'm dying to know everyone's favorite cereal!! My choice would be Quisp!! Its still being made but hard to find, about once a year I pay $10 to get a box from Amazon!!
Quisp RULES! I haven't had it in easily 10 years. I'll have to try and track it down!
Now this one is my ALL-TIME favorite. Yeah, some might say they're just frosted flakes, but oh no! These bad boys made game day awesome between 1998-2000! I even have a Flutie Flakes t-shirt!
I love many cereals. Many lunch & dinners I've eaten them . I am too poor to buy name brand cereals, but buy generics of Cocoa Pebbles, Honey Nut Cheerios, Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops, Corn Flakes & Shredded Wheat!
Oh! And Grape Nuts---eat them warm: In a bowl, with whatever type of milk you like, along with some sugar (or sugar substitute), cinnamon & 1 tps of butter, put it in the microwave for 3 minutes. So good on a cold day!
I will have to try it with the cinammon and butter sounds great!! Nothing wrong with generics, I love the hilarious names, who wants a box of crispy hexagons!!
I never really ate Quisp or Quake as a kid, but I did pick up the bagged version of Quisp made by Quaker (I forget what they called it) a couple of times, and I bought some actual branded Quisp in a box when they brought it back here a few years back. I loaded up on it when it went on close-out after it didn't sell well enough, but some ants decided they really liked Quisp (just that cereal, other cereals next to it in the pantry weren't infested) and I had to throw out several boxes.
This is my big long gone cereal from childhood:
I have no memory of what it tasted like, but I still have my refrigerator magnets.
I also remember eating King Vitaman a lot as a kid (when the mascot was a cartoon), but when I tried it later in life (with the human mascot), it wasn't very good.
Now I buy and eat just about any sugary cereal (I'm a sucker for almost anything with a comic book or movie tie-in box, but only if I can get it cheap. Luckily sales + coupons, and overstock at Big Lots or Ollie's, keep me well supplied).
@Keith Gleason I haven't seen it in a store in a while (but I haven't looked for it), so I don't know if it's still available. I think I got that picture from Quaker, so I guess you can still order it online.
Purina made some BOMB cereals. The original 'Cookie Crisp' was Purina and it went to General Mills and for whatever reason they went and changed it. There is now a 'Chips Ahoy!' cereal that tastes more like the old Purina Cookie Crisp.
@Keith Gleason That "Mr. Breakfast" site says it came out in 1973. I'm pretty sure that was before your time.
I can't believe I never ate any C-3PO'S. They came out in 1984. I guess I was over Star Wars by then, and I was eating E.T. cereal instead (which came out the same year).
I remember VIVIDLY Star Wars cookies, particularly the chocolate ones. I can still taste them. Not sure if they were made by Pepperidge Farms, but they were delicious
UPDATE: My hunch was correct. Pepperidge Farm put these bad MFers out. Just seeing this picture makes me want to get a Delorean with a flux capacitor. Well, there's a million reasons I want to get a Delorean with a flux capacitor, but the first thing I'm buying when I arrive in 1984 are two boxes of these. I know it's not cereal, but eating these with a tall glass of milk was absolute heaven.
I miss it so much. Nothing else quite tastes like it.
I never had this cereal, looks great though, marshmallows with what looks to be Chex!

I never had this cereal but I would like to sample it, maybe it will come back as a retro cereal one day
@Peter Engstrom aw shiitt, I'll be placing an order for this soon!!

I'm a sucker for sugary cereal as well, I like to try new ones when I see them, Freakies is one I never got a chance to sample.
Recently I saw that they made a Little Debbie's Oatmeal Cream Pie cereal, its at Walmart, I'm going to grab a box on my next trip there.
@Keith Gleason Little Debbie's Oatmeal Cream Pie cereal? I haven't seen that one yet. Is it a Wal-Mart exclusive?
@Newsprint Junkie I don't know if its exclusive, could be though, my local supermarket doesn't carry it
Quaker's bagged version of Quisp is called "Sweet Crunch."
I'm going to check it out, is it still available?
@Keith Gleason I haven't seen it in a store in a while (but I haven't looked for it), so I don't know if it's still available. I think I got that picture from Quaker, so I guess you can still order it online.
@Newsprint Junkie nice, i'll be seeking it out shortly
My favorite cereal of All time, Waffleos.
Nothing else quite like them
Never had this cereal either, looks great! They camue out with Ego cereal which had a maple syrup flavor its great and probably similar in taste

Closest in taste I found is French Toast Crunch. Same hint of egginess.
I didn't like French Toast Crunch, but I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I keep some of that on hand almost all the time.
That reminds me of another great "lost cereal"... Jean LaFoote's Cinnamon Crunch!
He's an interesting site I found when I was looking for the picture above: https://www.mrbreakfast.com/cereal_home.asp .
Never tried this one either, damn I missed a lot of good cereals

you're right, I wish they would re-release it so I can try it. Never tried C-3PO's but I did enjoy E.T. at least once.

@Peter Engstrom those look great!!
I was just reminded of this stuff last night. Does anyone remember 'BIGG MIXX'?? Taming that chicken, wolf, moose, pig appetite was serious business.
Can't say I remember this one
Bigg Mixx with raisins was incredible.
@Peter Engstrom It looks great, maybe it will come back someday!
